Traditional Dry Angry Orchard

Angry Orchard Traditional Dry Cider

Alright, I've had a few ciders from Angry Orchard and felt that it was time to try the original to be able to compare it to the others. Here is a list of ciders by Angry Orchard that I've had: Ginger, Cinnamon, Hop'N Mad. When looking at the traditional dry cider it looks like most ciders do. Of course if you did not know Angry Orchard  is made by Samuel Adams Brewery. Most people do not know that the are made by the same company and are shocked when they find out. Only because people do not think that a good beer company would be able to make such a great cider that is not a beer. Thought I will say it was smart by them to do so, because there is a big market out there for people who like beer but cannot have it. Ciders are the closest thing to having a beer without having it, if it is brewed right, in my opinion.

Glimpse into the Traditional Dry Cider

I go to take a sip and begin to smell the cider to see the aroma from the cider. The aroma I took away from the cider was an apple aroma. The cider smells sweet like and apple. The taste on the other hand is not as sweet as the aroma. When tasting the cider I tasted a bitter bite to the cider and then a sweet taste lingering on the taste pallett. The dryness of the cider comes through when tasting the cider. The cider is not as sweet as some of their other ciders, but that's what a beer drinker looks for in the dry cider. Ciders are often categorized into sweet or dry like wines are. Examples of both  are as followed: Mckenzies Black Cherry is sweet and Hop'N Mad, Traditional Dry are examples of dry ciders.

Bottle and Cider

In looking at this traditional dry cider I think that this is a good tasting cider up there with Stella Cidre and Crispin Ciders. Anyone that wants to try to begin tasting ciders I would recommend this cider to them. Now in comparison to Hop'N Mad Apple that I had early in my blog, I would have the Hop'N Mad over Traditional Dry. Only because traditional dry is more like a cider and the Hop'N Mad Apple is more like a beer. Next time you look at a cider make sure you do not overlook it. Ciders are usually stronger than most domestic national beers like Coors Light, Miller Light, and Bud Light. Traditional Dry is 5.5 % and has an Amber color to the cider. The only downside to having ciders is the sugar headaches, you cannot have too many or else. The positive is that you can drink a lot of ciders and not feel as bloated like you do with regular beers because of the yeast.

  1. Nick man have you ever tried the Green Goblin Cider from Thatcher? Great finishing taste for a cider and the bottles pretty stylish as well.
