Time Whiskey Bar Philadelphia

Traveled down to Philadelphia, PA to visit friends that came in from out of town. We went to a local whiskey bar in Philadelphia, which had twenty rotating taps. I was extremely excited and check out their draft list and my friend from Oregon pointed out a beer that I had to have since he was visiting town. The beer was from Ninkasi Brewing Company and was called Devil Went Down to Oregon. This beer is a seasonal beer that is available from January to April. The alcohol by volume or ABV was 7.2% and the International Bitterness Units or IBU was 65. Devil Went Down to Oregon is a Imperial Dark Rye beer. It was a smooth beer and a great taste that I would order over and over again it was that great a beer. I strongly suggest you try to get your hands on this beer however you can its that good.

The next beer I tried was from Boulevard Brewing Company. Beer was call Tank Seven Farmhouse Ale. Farmhouse Ales are also referred to sometimes as Saisons. The bitterness of this beer was a IBU of 38 and the ABV or alcohol by volume was 8.5%. After having these two beers I definitely needed some water because of how strong these beers were, Both were fantastic and I would highly recommend trying both. Tank 7 has a fruity taste but also has a smooth taste which leaves you puzzled on the aftertaste in a good way, leaving you asking what is that?

The last beer of the night came down between Goose Island and Shawnee Brewing Company. Which was a Chicago Brewery versus a local Philadelphia Brewery. I wanted to support the local craft beer, so the Shawnee beer won. That beer was called Shawnee Chestnut Braun. The Chestnut Braun is a English Style Brown Ale. This beer reminded me of New Castle Brown Ale but ten times better beer. The ABV of this Braun Ale was 5.5%, so not as strong as the first two beers but was a solid smooth beer. Definitely had a nutty taste to the beer but I think that helped with the smoothness of the beer. The IBU of Braun Ale is 35. I would recommend this beer for anyone that is trying to find English Style beers or that likes a nutty taste to their beer.

I will be trying to visit more craft beer places like Time in Center City Philadelphia, PA. If anyone has a suggestion of a place I should visit or that would want to meet up at just let me know and we can go try some new craft beers.  I was told to go to Union Jacks in Glenside, so I think that might be my next visit.
