Stand Out Long Trail

Long Trail Brewing Company is based out of Vermont. I have had other beers by them and this is the first time I am having their Stand Out Pale Ale. I looked at the bottle and it says "step off the beaten path and have a stand out moment." In addition to that it tells you to take a hike on top of the label on the top of the bottle. They got their name Long Trail from the long trail in the Green Mountains of Vermont.

Stand Out American Pale Ale Have a Stand out Moment

The alcohol by volume is 5.2 percent and the bitterness of it is 42.  There are a couple different versions of Pale Ales if you are wondering. There are three different types: English, American, and Belgian. Out of the three: English is the lightest pale and Belgian is the strongest. Leaving American pale ales in the middle of it all, American Pale Ales tend to use American hops like cascade for its citrus flavor. In my opinion I am not a fan of cascade hops because they are usually used in hoppier beers like India Pale Ales or beers that act like IPA's.

Has yellow and brown tint to the Beer

Went in to smell the aroma of the beer and I came away uninterested in the beer because I smelled the bitter IPA smell.  In this beer the traveled off the beaten path and used a different American hop called the Equinox, which has a pronounced herbal and citrus notes. Time to dive into a taste. Alright took a deep gulp of this beer and not a big fan of it. There is definitely a bitter taste from the hops they used in the beer. The other taste that I get is the herbal taste of the hops that is similar to flower power and Troegs Perpetual IPA. If you are into beers that have a strong bitter note and a herbal taste to them then this is a beer for you. The taste lingers around after you drink it, which is weird because of the lower IBU's. I did not think that this beer would be hoppier than the Red Chair by Deschutes Brewery in Oregon but it is and I think its more of an IPA then a Pale Ale. If you are in to Hoppy beers than you will like this beer. If you are in to beers like myself: White Ale, Wit Beers, Black Lagers than this is not a beer for you. Try to drink locally and support your local craft beers.
