Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale/Saison
The winner of the most recent reader's choice was Tank 7, which was tied with Mango Wheat. Had my friend's dad break the tie and he picked Tank 7. Both are great choices and I can not wait to try the beers in this six pack. Tank 7, is a Farmhouse Ale/Saison, this ale is made by Boulevard Brewing Company. The first time I ever had this beer was at Time Whiskey Bar in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Boulevard Brewing Company is from Kansas City, Missouri. They began in 1988 and expanded in 2006. Tank 7 has an ABV of 8.5% and a IBU of 38. Farmhouse Ales/Saison's usually run between 4% and 10% ABV and Tank 7 is right near the middle on the alcohol by volume percentage.
Cloudy Clear Complexion of Tank 7
Tank 7 has a straw color appearance and has a cloudy complexion. The aroma I picked up from this is fruity and bitter notes. I smell the tartness of grapefruit and the bitterness from the hops. This is an interesting aroma and made me want to dive in to see, which one I would be more apparent in the taste of the beer. Which if you look up a Saison they have a slightly tart bite to them and adding the Grapefruit aroma makes that tart bite come to life in the aroma. Took a dive into this beer and first thing I tasted was a bitter hop tart taste to this ale. I think I like it because of the smoothness of the brew. The body of Tank 7 is light to medium body. To explain body of the beer it refers to thickness of the beer. This beer is not thin but it does have a thick quality to it, so this beer has a light to medium body. Now I want to make sure you the reader understand that this beer should be serve in a goblet style glass like seen below.
Goblet Style Tank 7
The style of glass and style of beer usually go together. The style of the glass brings out certain qualities of the beer you are drinking. For example, a Stout should be enjoyed in a Stout glass. In addition a Pilsner should be enjoyed from a Pilsner style glass. Now to finish the taste aspect of Tank 7. This Saison/Farmhouse Ale is very smooth and towards the end of your sip you pick up a peppery finish to the beer. Tank 7 has a dry and peppery finish to it that makes it pleasantly enjoyable. I think that Tank 7 is a great brew and I think that you should try it in your next six pack. Its a must enjoy beer in my opinion. Caution I will say that if you do get a six pack of Tank 7 make sure you drink responsibly and if you do have to make sure you are not going anywhere for awhile. I look forward to trying some other brews by Boulevard Brewing Company in the near future.
